  1. I’m just glad I don’t have to endure several more games of torture. Beating the Yankees was good enough.

  2. yes, i am bummed, but we WAY outplayed what was expected of us at the start of the season…suck it central! and if the mayans are correct…the lions and tigers should both be champions in 2012!! haha.

  3. Yeah i am totally bummed because Jim Leyland gave that series away. I honestly believe that. So i cant be optistmistic about next year with Leyland at the helm.

  4. Very optimistic about 2012. Good pitching will take the Tigers back to the ALCS at least. Middle of the lineup is strong.

Just, please Tigers, shed the bad Penny for a Single A pitcher.

  5. Both, of course. Winning in baseball, winning it all, is hard. We thought we’d be back in ’06 and it took this long to get to the post-season again. Team is in good shape, but players had career years in many cases that may be difficult to match. Cabrera is the only one you know for certain can duplicate and exceed this year. JV, had a career, almost all-time year. He’ll be an ace for a long time, but unrealistic to expect him to equal this year. Peralta? 268 hitter hit 299 this year. Avila, should be as good, but 295 from a catcher is not easy to come by. Blaming Leyland is asinine. The rain delays really hurt team’s rhythm. We lost two game in extras and played against defending AL champs. We win one more game in regular season and this could well be a different series. A bounce here, a bounce there. Thats how fragile things are in the postseason. Good news, Fister in for a whole year, Jackson can’t be worse than he was, money coming off the books and overall, team looks to have a nice future with some young talent in key spots. Go tigers.

  6. We should all be proud. we held strong through out the year. Then we pulled off the impossible in new york. its not leyland fault they could make they were over matched. leyland may not be the best but hes good and wins games. to get rid of him would be a shock and would kill any playoff chances we had just because the TEAM needs him. He there voice there emotions. the man care so much bout detroit you take him away for them it will kill him and the team. so for all the nay sayers bout leyland. go get stuck up a tree. He coaches very similar to sparky. (and we all loved sparky.)So i cant wait for the next season. should be great and if not hell were tigers fans got to be kinda used to it by now lol. 2012 is goin to be the years of tigers and lions, then detroit shall be the true king of the jungle…..

  7. I understand that you cant put all the blame on Leyland, but game two i think he should have squeezed. Instead he let young hit and cabrera got thrown out at the plate. Why not squeeze? If kelly(i would have pinch ran for cabrera) doesnt make it then you have 1st and 2nd. Not an inning ending double play. Then to pitch Perry in the eleventh who hasnt worked the whole postseason? Also why have valverde pitch the second inning in game 4 when he was going on his third day of work? He never has done that. Especially since he pitched two innings in game 2 and an inning in game three. I would understand if it was one and one but that was his fifth inning in three days. Valverde doesnt do that. Plus Valverde had a 6 something era in non-save situations.

  8. The Tigers got this far with some major holes in the lineup, so if they can fill those holes in, they should be in great shape for next year. To start with, they don’t have a real leadoff hitter. Jackson is just not getting the job done. He is striking out way too much and needs to be at the bottom of the order. If we could get a good hitting second baseman to do that job as well as play decent defense, that would be big plus. We still need an everyday third baseman, and Inge is not it. He is only of use in small doses such as a late inning defensive replacement. Perhaps they can get by on the platoon system if they sign Betemit, but a full time power hitting player who can play defense as well would be a major improvement at third. I’m not sure how Cabrera would do back at third now that he’s had time to settle in at first, so I don’t know if that option is on the table either.

  9. How can you not be optomistic for the future. We have Fister signed thru 2015, Verlander thru 14, a great defensive CF in Jackson and Delmon Young. Add to that Miggy and Vmart and getting Boesch back, we have a ton of talent, way more than anyone else in the Central. Need a 2nd baseman and more importantly a leadoff hitter to set the table. Hopefully those can both come in one package.
