Mickey was one of my favorite Tigers. I will never forget when he was SNUBBED by Cito Gaston for the 1993 All-Star team, he was having the best season of any Tiger but didn't go to the game. Then the next year Gaston picked him as a makeup when he was having a by far worse season in 1994.

You never hear anything from Mickey these days. I was at the last game at Tiger Stadium and I remember wondering why he wasn't there. He was probably one of the more popular Tigers of the 1990s.

Mickey was a great player and an all around good guy. I remember one game when I was about 6 years old. We would get there early to watch batting practice and Mickey broke one of his bats. He taped it up, walked over to the stands and gave his bat to me, still fresh with pine tar! I still have that bat in my closet today and will always remember what he said to me, "Don't swing it in the house."
