- 1996 — The Tigers acquired two players to be named (RHP Kevin Gallaher and infielder Pedro Santana) from the Astros for RHP Gregg Olson.
- 1984 — In Anaheim, the Tigers use the long ball to beat the Angels, 12-6. Kirk Gibson has two homers and four runs scored, Marty Castillo, hits a homer and scores three times, and Chet Lemon belts his first career grand slam. Tommy John goes just 2-2/3 inning in losing to Milt Wilcox (15-7). Detroit leads the AL East by 12 games.
- 1966 — Earl Wilson, winner of six straight, hits an eighth inning homer to give himself a 5-3 lead over the Yankees. But the Yankees, batting against reliever Hank Aguirre in the ninth, tally one run on a Clete Boyer single, and win it, 6-5, when Mickey Mantle hits a pinch homer over a leaping Al Kaline in rightfield. The win still leaves New York (57-72) in last place.
- 1934 — Schoolboy Rowe wins his 16th consecutive game. The Waco, TX native singles home the winning run in the ninth in a 4-2 victory over the Senators.
