I use people’s opinion of Dombrowski as a barometer of their baseball intelligence. If they think Dombrowski’s an idiot, I KNOW they’re an idiot. And then I immediately ignore anything they say.

I liked the article (minus calling Inge Cringe)and I felt it was needed, as so many people are whining about the Tigers and calling for Dombrowski and Leyland’s heads (not specifically at this site but more so sites like freep, detnews, and Mlive). I am so sick of fans calling Dombrowski “Dumbo”, do people remember Randy Smith’s reign of terror? Though Jose Guillen is having a good year at the plate, I would not want him around the team in 2011 because I thought he was known for being a bad clubhouse influence.

Wade, you are missing an important point. The tigers have ZERO position player prospects. NONE. How can you write an article like this an overlook that key point?

I’m with you in principle, but I only see two mainstays in your list. Verlander and Cabrera, not just because they are cy young and mvp caliber — because they are consistent and have been relatively injury free thus far in their careers.

I like all those other guys too, but if Porcello never meets his potential, Scherzer continues to have ups and downs, Zumaya never plays a full season again and Valverde (as he did in Arizona) has stretches of brillence punctuated by stretches where you wonder if he’s permanently cooked — I wouldn’t be surprised. Coke and Jackson could be elevated to “mainstay” by next year at their current pace.

I want them to succeed and I think with another good off-season from Dave D we could have a real play off contender.

ha good points wade. and if we can snipe a good bat off of waivers this year (jose gullien anyone) we could add another cheap bat to the lineup next year.

Spot on Wade! The Tigers are in a good position moving forward. Carl Crawford anyone?

I think the biggest disappointment has been the shift from a very fun team to watch in the first half to a not so fun team in the second.
