You know…

…watching Edwin Jackson deal all night long was nothing short of exhilarating. Even when he gave up the homer to the unlikeable Scott Rolen. Still, I put this game less on Brandon Lyon and more on the other Brandon with a four-letter last name: Inge.
Sure, he hit a homer to tie it in the ninth, but his error in the eighth got all the bad karma a-swirling.
If Lyon’s 2009 is like his ‘08 in Arizona, there will be plenty of opportunities to rip into him.
Tonight, though, I hang on Inge.

I totally disagree. Yes, Inge’s error was not good but Lyon still gave up the homer and the run in the ninth. I put it on Lyon but also on Leyland. No way Lyon should have been out there in the ninth. Did anyone actually think he wasn’t going to lose the game that inning?

There was plenty of blame to go around. Inge’s error, Everett not getting to that grounder, Cabrera not making the catch on Inge’s throw….but I gotta go with Lyon on this one. He didn’t get the job done. And he should not have been out there for the 9th. Of course, that begs the question: Who should have been? Right now, I don’t see a good answer. Unless we want to throw Perry into the fire. I got a sinking feeling as soon as Jackson cme out of the game.
