Polly moving out does make sense, for all the reasons Ian noted.

Also making some sense was a nugget from a story by the Freep's John Paul Morosi last Sunday in which he hinted at the possibility of Larish playing third base and Brandon Inge returning to his old college position of shortstop.

I, for one, am in favor of this. I'd much prefer Inge hold down the fort there until Cale Iorg is ready to go rather than overspending (both salary and tradewise) for Jack Wilson. Larish offers a lefty bat in the lineup and for late-inning maneuvering you take him out, slide Inge to third, and Santiago moves into short.

This also frees the Tigers up to concentrate on moving either Polanco or Ordonez for a catcher and arms.
