I knew Dwight in Grosseto, Italy, in 1989. He was our catcher, and we won the Italian Championship series. Thank you Dwight. You are in our minds...

I knew Dwight in college, my freshman year was his senior year. He was very kind, and a great ball player. I enjoyed watching him play. Its a shame his life was cut so short

Dennis,

Thank you for taking time to write about your brother. I enjoyed watching him play in Detroit and only heard wonderful things about him. His impact is clearly felt in Pemboke and beyond.

I am Dwight's brother. Oh how i wish many would have got to know the man. He was a man captured by the grace of God in his life and one that wanted to live his life for God's glory. He loved sports but it was always a means to an end, to make much of Christ. His early life in small town pemboke was in my mind even more amazing than his public life. He helped me see how living with purpose and conviction from elementary school can impact a community. I miss him with all my heart.

My brother played with Dwight at North Carolina and when he passed away I was stationed at Ft Bragg, NC. Me and my wife had season tickets for the Generals even. Upon hearing about Dwight's passing i called my brother who said wow that is tragic, he was one of the all time great guys. I just wished I had gotten the chance to say Hi that spring before he passed.

I was fortunate to meet Dwight in person. He was a wonderful young man and had a promising future in baseball. He came to our church to speak. Several years ago I saw Lance Parrish at the Gibralter trade center and I mentioned Dwight's name and Mr. Parrish immediately stood up from his chair and commented what a wonderful man Dwight was.

I'd suspect Lowry would've been - could still be - a Tigers' manager by this point.

Yep, count me amongst those who never heard of Lowry before this. Seems like the Tigers lost a good guy.
