My brother played with Dwight at North Carolina and when he passed away I was stationed at Ft Bragg, NC. Me and my wife had season tickets for the Generals even. Upon hearing about Dwight’s passing i called my brother who said wow that is tragic, he was one of the all time great guys. I just wished I had gotten the chance to say Hi that spring before he passed.

I was fortunate to meet Dwight in person. He was a wonderful young man and had a promising future in baseball. He came to our church to speak. Several years ago I saw Lance Parrish at the Gibralter trade center and I mentioned Dwight’s name and Mr. Parrish immediately stood up from his chair and commented what a wonderful man Dwight was.

I’d suspect Lowry would’ve been – could still be – a Tigers’ manager by this point.

Yep, count me amongst those who never heard of Lowry before this. Seems like the Tigers lost a good guy.
