Telling Statistic

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always admired the team that — when facing travel following that day’s game — can gather itself and put forth a strong effort and even eek out a few wins along the way.
The 2008 Detroit Tigers are most assuredly not that type of team.
Wednesday’s 10-2 throttling at the hands of the Oakland A’s got me thinking about how truly inept this team is on getaway days. How inept are they? How does 2-7 on getaways sound? How does being outscored 63-24 sound? How about scoring two or fewer runs in six of those nine games?
This is definitely a team that mails it in more often than not on the day they’re heading out of town.
My advice: Throw 10 large down on this team to lose that game next Sunday against the Dodgers. The odds are certainly with you.
