Curious Move: Tigers Promote Casey Fossum
By Mike McClary in Featured,Fungoes | 0 comments
The Tigers this afternoon promoted lefty Casey Fossum from Toledo. Why? It’s a just a guess — because the team hasn’t announced who Fossum replaces on the roster — but one would think Francisco Cruceta is a likely candidate to be sent out.
Fossum is 3-0 with a 1.96 ERA in 11 games this season.
Update: Yep, it’s Cruceta. And given that Fossum takes Cruceta’s place in the bullpen, it’s not as curious a move as I originally thought. In fact, in Lynn Henning‘s minor league report today he says that Fossum was so strong in Toledo that he could be pitching for Detroit. Talk about timing.
