Why was Guillen there Monday night? Quite simply, he's Leyland's boy. He gets a pass on just about everything. When everybody else is getting rest, Guillen never seems to be. Perhaps there's some AB clause in his contract or some such we're not aware of, but Jimmy's already proclaimed his man-love for Carlos (right up there with Bob Walk if I recall) so he's never going to sit unless he wants to sit.

As for Tuesday's loss, it's a shame. Bonderman finally gets his head screwed on straight for a few consecutive outings and the rest of the team drops a stink bomb behind him. I will say this, we discussed on the roundtable what makes an ace and, if Bonderman is Jack Morris circa 1984 and after, he finds a way to finish that game. There's no way, if I'm a starter on this staff and I have an outing like he did last night or Rogers the night before, I allow Leyland to pull me. Nor, for that matter, do I give Leyland a reason to consider pulling me. That means you need to get out the batters you're supposed to get out (re: bottom of the order Jeremy).
