Old Home Week at Cactus League Tilt

If I have any complaint about sitting through Cactus League games here in the Phoenix Valley it’s this: no Tigers action. But that’s it. (I certainly can’t complain about the weather: 75 and sunny.)

Today I took in the Brewers and Cubs game at the very nice Maryvale Baseball Stadium in the not-at-all-nice area of Phoenix’s west side. To my delight, there was no shortage of Tigers connections at this game, including:
Cubs
- Alan Trammell, bench coach
- Larry Rothschild, pitching coach
- Edward Campusano, lefty reliever (a nanosecond tenure in Detroit); 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R/ER
Brewers
- Eric Munson, catcher (2-3, 2 RBI and a smoked double off Campusano)
- Gabe Kapler, left field
- Prince Fielder, Cecil’s son
It might not be the same as hanging out in Lakeland, but we take what we can get.
By the way, Munson didn’t look half bad behind the plate. Could he be an option for the Tigers?
Just kidding.
