Sorensen Headed to C-Block…Again
By Mike McClary in Fungoes | 1 comment
The life of former Tigers broadcaster/ex-big league pitcher Lary Sorensen continues its downward spiral.

This time, it appears, he’s lucky to be alive. Last Saturday night he was found in his car by a Roseville police officer on the shoulder of 696 and I-94 (not far from where I grew up).
EMTs rushed the 52-year-old Sorensen to St. John Macomb Hospital, where he was diagnosed with alcohol poisoning. Tests determined his blood alcohol level to be .48 — six times higher than the .08 threshold for drunk-driving convictions in Michigan.
Ian Casselberry and I were talking about Sorensen the other day during an IM session. We were discussing the launch of WDFN in 1994 and Sorensen’s spot on the a.m. drive time show with Butch Stearns. They were an entertaining pair on a station that featured less-talented personalities as Van Earl Wright among others.
Now it appears the former L’Anse Creuse star is on his way to the hole in Jackson for a long time.

That’s too bad. I hate to see anyone’s life go downward like this.
