He was much better offensively than Lemon, no question, but he ran into Jim Campbell's lock-and-key restraints on the Fetzer millions. I disliked Lemon immensely as a player; very overrated in the outfield, with a meager arm. He did play well for the Tigers, however, and did have a good 1984 season. Jimmy Piersall, the analyst for ChiSox games in the 80s, used to hate Lemon and his fundamental inadequacies in CF. And Piersall was a superb CF in his day. I had just dropped off my buddy, and was pulling out of his driveway, when I heard about the trade over the radio. I had to pull back in, storm into my friend's house, and bitch out the Tigers!
