I spent the summer of 1994 in Fairbanks, AK, toiling away at the Daily News-Miner. That summer I saw plenty of Alaska Baseball League games featuring the homestanding Alaska Goldpanners.

Featured prominently on that 1994 edition were a pair of youngsters. One was a firstbaseman San Diego named Travis Lee and the other was a hot-shot from USC named Jacque Jones.

He was a solid ABLer, but is the left-handed equivalent of Craig Monroe (with less power)in my opinion.

Is Todd Jones really worth $7 million a year? Shoot, Josh Wallin and I will spend that in antacid this year watching him amble in to start the ninth inning with a one-run lead.
