I Was There When It Started

File this under “wishful thinking”, the kind of thinking I’m officially not permitting myself to engage in, but as I watched the Angels smoke the Indians last night, I flashed back to the Tigers three-game meltdown in Anaheim six weeks ago. For Detroit, it was an extension of a poor second-half start that hasn’t quite resolved itself.

At any rate, reveling in the Angels outburst of runs off Paul Byrd, I wondered if a trip to Anaheim could knock the Indians Express off the tracks for, oh, the next three weeks or so.

Too much to ask? Probably.

But, if Cleveland falls back to earth — i.e., a mere three games ahead of the Tigers — I’ll brag that I knew the Tribe’s collapse when it was just a wee-little stumble.

Ah, the sweetness of imagination.
