I can't pronounce his name but the kid looked pretty good. We've got some dandy young arms in the system. I hope Jair stays with the big club and can contribute until Kenny gets back.

What's up with Bonderman? Did he go on vacation after the All-Star break? Has he even won a game since then?

Tonight's one-hitter was the first I witnessed in person since July 14, 1985 when Walt Terrell and Willie Hernandez combined on a one-hitter when the Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins 8-0 for their first victory of the year over that team. The only hit by a Twins batter at Tiger Stadium that day was a double by Tom Brunansky in the 6th inning with 2 outs.

I'd like to go on record now and say this...

If this is what we can expect from Jair. I demand that the Tigers keep this kid. I'm not saying the one hitter. I'm saying the ground ball pitching. Is it just me or does anyone else think that some of the Tigers pitching woes lately stem from everyone trying to strike guys out instead of pitching to contact? Talk about a breath of fresh air! EVERY GREAT TEAM HAS A GUY LIKE THIS WHO CAN COME IN AND PITCH TO CONTACT. I'm not trying to fluff the guy up to a #1 or #2, but you can't tell me he wouldn't be an excellent #4 or #5. Great game kid, I hope you stick around and show us more of the same.

On a side note, I'll be at Fridays game... as tradition goes I believe Mr. Durbin will be back on the bump.
