C-Mo meet Timo

Need more evidence Craig Monroe‘s days in Detroit may be numbered. When Marcus Thames was placed on the DL today due to a hamstring, the Tigers not only promoted journeyman Timo Perez from AAA Toledo but also started him in leftfield.
I understand Monroe left Wednesday’s game due to back spasms, but if the guy who essentially took my job goes down, I’m going to do all I can to get myself back in the lineup. That didn’t happen in this case.
Perez, for what it’s worth, was leading the International League in hits (120) and batting average (.322). He also had 33 doubles, 10 homers, and 42 RBIs. He was batting seventh in the Tigers’ lineup Thursday.

This is a very curious thing. If you read Lynn Henning’s column today, it appears the Tigers are sticking with Monroe.
Not exactly a vote of confidence.
