Breaking: Roman Colon Era Ends; Righty Pugilist Dealt to Royals

The alleged jewel of the Kyle Farnsworth trade, Roman Colon, has been sent to Kansas City for a player to be named later.

If you’re keeping score, that’s two trades to the state of Missouri in a one-month period — both for PTBNLs. Missouri: 2, Tigers: Bubkus.

Colon has been in the news most recently due to his being charged with felonious assault after a June 12 brawl in the Toledo Mud Hens’ clubhouse.

According to ESPN.com:

Colon’s injury rehabilitation assignment has been transferred from Double-A Erie to Double-A Wichita in the Royals’ organization. In five outings with Erie, Colon was 2-0 with a 5.91 ERA. He also appeared in five games with Toledo and was 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA.

In 32 games with Detroit, Colon went 3-1 with a 5.37 ERA.

Roman, we hardly knew ye. And what we knew, we didn’t like.

Good thing the Tigers asked for that throw-in piece that we know as Zach Miner.
