TSN Jinx?

We know Mike is still celebrating the expiration of his Sporting News subscription but not all of us are so fortunate. Mine arrived today with Todd Jones on the cover with the text reading “Beware the Tigers.”

Apparently observing the Tigers during spring training — or the knowledge that Neifi Perez is in great physical shape — changed the Sporting News’ mind about who the best team in baseball is. Not more than two months ago I posted the fact that TSN had tabbed the Minnesota Twins its initial pick-to-click in its weekly Power Poll.

No more!

Detroit is now tops followed by the BoSox, Yanks, and then the Twins.

The post-season prediction shows the Tigers beating the Yanks, the BoSox over the Angels, and Detroit taking down Boston before eventually dumping the Phillies in the World Series. (If only 162 games didn’t stand in the way of these predictions.)

Omar Infante gets some props from the magazine which states, “He enters 2007 as a superutility player who backs up four positions which will give him a chance to pick up more at-bats and audition for the starting spot if SS Carlos Guillen leaves …”

No surprise in the fact it predicts big things from Andrew Miller and a belief that Curtis Granderson‘s new stroke will make him better with a two-strike count.
