Tigers Youth Ranks Near the Top of Pro Talent According to Baseball America
By Mike McClary in Fungoes | 0 comments
In the current issue of Baseball America the “Ask BA” question is “Who would you rate as the top five hitters and top five pitchers, prospects or not, under the age of 25?” Executive Editor Jim Callis answers the question in two parts.
In the first he looks at it from a prospect standpoint and includes Cameron Maybin at #5 on the list of position players and Andrew Miller at #4 for hurlers.
Add two more Tigers pitchers when Callis expands the list to include the best under-25 position players and pitchers — overall — in organized ball: Jeremy Bonderman at #4 and Justin Verlander at #5.
The Giants, Mets and Devil Rays were the only other teams with multiple players in Callis’s rankings, with two each.
Now that’s a talent pipeline.
